4 Simple Steps to Overcoming Overindulgence


Merry Christmas! Yep it’s that time of year of festive cheer and for some, like yours truly, overindulgence. No exception here. Having finished up yesterday for a five week holiday with my family I sit here wearing my second servings of all meals consumed over the last 24 hours in a state of bliss and food hangover all at the same time.

It was self inflicted. It was my choice to let go of the  ‘sensible’ eating to the ‘I’ll have what she’s having, he’s having, their having and you’re having and then I’ll have it again’. As I sat down reflecting on my beautiful day I remind myself of four very important points that highlight it’s not the end of the world. They include:

1. Time out is time out

Relax no one is perfect in their eating habits. It’s one day and its Christmas. Tomorrow is a brand spanking new day.

2. Don’t go breaking your heart

In other words go easy on yourself and avoid beating yourself up. When you do overindulge, don’t be self-deprecating. So we overate let’s get back on track again tomorrow after all it’s a brand spanking new day.

3. Sooner the better

After a day of overindulgence the faster you resume healthy/normal eating habits the better for you. So tomorrow being a brand new spanking day is the perfect time to get back on track. No excuses.

4. Scales are NOT your friend

Like the economy you and your weight is experiencing inflation and scales must be avoided. Weighing yourself will only make you feel defeated and who needs that? No one.
